Privacy Policy

This policy explains what data the TNChatZone app and website ("TNChatZone", "we") collect, why, and the choices you have. It is written to follow India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and Google Play's policies.

1. Data we collect

Account details: your name, email address or mobile number when you sign in with Google or phone OTP (through Google Firebase Authentication).
Profile: the display name, emoji avatar, district and bio you choose, and an optional profile photo, plus photos and covers for rooms you own. Photos are checked by our moderators before others can see them. Your profile is visible to other users.
Date of birth (optional): used to confirm you are 18+ and to show a 🎂 on your birthday. Other users only ever see the day and month, never the year or your age, and you can hide it.
Social activity: friends, follows, profile likes, bonds, profile visits, birthday cards, badges, titles, levels and points.
Timeline: text posts, likes and comments you add. Posts are removed automatically after 48 hours.
Messages: what you post in public rooms, private rooms and private chats, with the time it was sent, plus reactions and poll votes. Room messages are removed automatically after 48 hours (an admin can change this period).
Coins and purchases: your coin balance and history, items you buy with coins, and Google Play order IDs for coin packs and VIP subscriptions. We never see or store your card, UPI or bank details. Google Play handles payment.
Games: scores and rewards.
Safety records: reports you send or receive, blocks, mutes and bans.
Device and technical data: a push-notification token, app version, IP address, crash logs and diagnostics, and how you use app features (app interactions).
Advertising data: Google AdMob shows ads in the app and may collect your device's advertising ID and approximate location, as explained in Google's ad policy.

2. Why we use it

To show your profile, friends, timeline, levels and leaderboards to other users, as the app's features need.
To create your account and let you chat, play and use coins.
To keep the community safe: filtering bad words, handling reports, and stopping spam, fraud and abuse.
To verify purchases and rewarded ads, so coins are credited correctly.
To send notifications you can switch off in your phone settings.
To show ads, which keep the app free.
To follow the law and answer valid requests from authorities.

3. Who can see your messages

Public room messages can be seen by every user. Private room messages can be seen by that room's members. Private chat messages can be seen by the two people in the chat. TNChatZone moderators can read messages, including private ones, when they review reports or investigate abuse. Messages are not end-to-end encrypted.

4. Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with:

Google (Firebase Authentication, Firebase Realtime Database, Firebase Cloud Messaging, AdMob and Google Play Billing), who process data for us;
our web hosting provider, which runs our servers;
law enforcement, when Indian law requires it.

5. How long we keep data

We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your name, contact details, profile, photo, date of birth, friends, bonds, visits, cards, badges and the text of your messages, posts and comments straight away. We keep coin and purchase records without your personal details for up to 8 years for accounting and tax law, and safety records (bans, reports) for up to 180 days.

6. Your rights

You can see and edit your profile in the app, ask for a copy of your data, correct it, or delete your account at any time:

In the app: Me → Settings → Delete account (instant), or
On the web: tnchatzone.com/delete-account.php.

You can also delete single items without deleting your account: your messages, posts, comments and profile photo, and unfriend or end bonds. See how to delete some of your data.

7. Age limit

TNChatZone is only for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we find such an account, we delete it.

8. Security

Data travels over HTTPS, passwords for private rooms are stored hashed, and admin access is limited and logged. No system is 100% secure, so please do not share sensitive personal information in chat.

10. Changes

If we change this policy, we will update the date above and tell you in the app when the change is important.
